Small Press Month-- March 2004! There are an estimated 50,000 small independent
publishers across the country according to the Small Press Center.
Small Press Month was designed to help recognize the small
and independent publishers and their authors who publishes 1.1 million books a
year, according to the Publishing Marketing Association
(www.smallpress.org/spm/spm.htm).
San Leandro, CA (PRWEB) March 2, 2004 -– Let Every Voice be
Heard! Is the theme for Small Press Month 2004. An author who has beaten the
odds of getting her romance/suspense book published is having her voice heard!
Author, Deborah M. Piccurelli, of In the Midst of Deceit—A Novel, shows that
with determination and faith in God nothing is impossible. She is a homemaker whose
new career was inspired by a paperback that she picked up at a store. Yet, she
has accomplished what many writers are still hoping against hope to do—get
their book published!
Most independent publishers have a passion for publishing what the readers
want--what the readers want can become obscure with larger publishers.
Piccurelli shares, “If a new writer has a specific message to convey to
readers, it is more likely to happen through a small press. Every voice
certainly does not get heard where large publishers are concerned, but many of
the prominent voices of today were first discovered by small press.”
Piccurelli’s novel is the first fiction title published through the Independent
Christian Publisher, Jireh Publishing Company.
“The Christian fiction market is growing and we felt the need to provide
fiction works to our readers. We’re currently looking for genres, such as
romance, suspense, and mystery,” says Janice Holman, CEO and Publisher of Jireh
Publishing Company. “Our goal is to publish 2-3 fiction titles a year as we
move forward to gain momentum in the fiction market.”
“Our selection of titles are geared to every book lover. Our focus is on
content that will inspire, encourage and even provoke the reader to change or
action. We want our books to captivate and stimulate the imagination of our
readers—whether it’s romance or mystery.”
Small Press Month was designed to help recognize the small and independent
